1959 Incorporated in India as Food Specialties
1962 Nestlé’s first unit at Moga, Punjab, comes on stream. Manufactures milk products, infant milk food and weaning cereals, culinary products, and beverages
1967 Sets up its second factory in Choladi, Tamilnadu to produce beverages (tea). Lists on the BSE to part-finance this project
1989 Establishes the third plant at Nanjangud, Karnataka to manufacture instant coffee and health beverages
1990 NIL enters the chocolate business, and introduces Nestle Premium
1995 NIL launches Kit-Kat in India
2000 NIL enters the ultra heat treated (UHT) liquid milk market
2006 Production of culinary products at the seventh plant in Pantnagar in Uttaranchal, which costs Rs1bn begins
